Message for faculty and staff
Whatever our individual roles at FIU, an important part of our collective mission is facilitating learning for all students of all backgrounds, interests and abilities. As faculty and staff we all play a role in ensuring that FIU is an inclusive place of learning, where no student is left out of opportunities to thrive because they are not accessible to them.
In this website, you will find information and resources to increase accessibility of your documents, courses and programs. Our goal. Is to incorporate universal design – incorporating elements that are necessary for some and god for all - into everything we do so that there is less need for individual accommodation.
Join the effort to expand accessibility and redefine disability at FIU.
It’s important to include my real experiences in our FIU courses because there are different dynamics of learning. Not all of us are sighted, not all of us can hear, so because we’re different and with different abilities, it’s important to be inclusive when it comes to learning – and I think we’re all better students for it. We have a richer learning experience – not only for students with disabilities, but for the professors and our classmates.Ramona Moore, Student who is blind and pursuing a master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling
